Private Tutoring For SAT - Where To Look?

Private Tutoring For SAT - Where To Look?Looking for the best private tutoring for SAT? There are many ways to find the right one. Before you actually start looking, take some time to think about what you want to achieve. Are you looking for a specific SAT? If you're using a private tutor, this is going to make it much more difficult. Look at the different criteria that the different tutors will use to assess your abilities. You need to make sure that they are all happy with you.Another problem is that the SAT requires a lot of math and reading skills. If you have any previous studies in these subjects, your teachers might have picked up on this and be able to judge you on these. If this is the case, you need to have extra work done at school to compensate. What if you're a good reader? If you're able to read the same books as your teacher, but never really have taken up any advanced reading or writing subjects, then you're not going to be very good at taking tests. Get yourself into t hese subjects and you will be just fine.Even if you've got no reading or writing skills, some students take the SATs because they can read the questions. If you have a knack for getting the answers to questions right, then you can get away with this. The only thing that you really need to do is ensure that you are very confident in reading. You could also work on other things that you could see yourself doing with your SATs. Fascinating Facts about Mathematics

Fascinating Facts about Mathematics Mathematics is the science of numbers. The mathematical methods are applicable to many spheres of our life and allow us to explain the structure of the Universe and the laws of nature. Mathematics is often called the Queen of the Sciences because many other sciences are based on the mathematical concepts. At the same time, there are many interesting and curious facts associated with this complicated science. Here are some of them. Origin of the number system. The origination of the decimal number system, which we use today, is connected with the fact that a human being has ten fingers on two hands. Before people developed the ability to abstract thinking the fingers were the most convenient tool for calculations. The Maya also involved the toes into their number scale and used the vigesimal numbering  system. The Sumerians and the ancient Babylonians utilized the sexagesimal and the duodecimal number systems, based on using the thumb pointing to each finger bone on the four fingers in turn, this way it is possible to count to 12 using one hand only. So, our fingers are an ancient source of the knowledge of math. Insects and animals have basic math abilities. The experiments on ants showed that they can tell each other the way to food, count and make some elementary arithmetic operations. If an ant is taught that the food may be more likely found in 10th, 20th, etc. branches of labyrinth, the ant takes these branches as the starting points and finds the way by adding or subtracting the needed number. Bees also possess awesome math ability. While flying round the flowers, bees are able to find an optimal route the shortest possible way needed to visit each flower and to come back to the beehive. No wonder that experiments on fish, dogs, monkeys and dolphins constantly reveal even more advanced math abilities of these species. Even the leaves on plants are located in strict order, distanced from each other at a certain angle clockwise or counterclockwise. This angle is the same for similar plants. This feature allows getting water and sunlight more efficiently. Math has its holidays. There are two unofficial holidays intended to commemorate the number ? (pi). In the United States Pi Day is observed on March 14, which is 3/14 in month/day date format. The second holiday, Pi Approximation Day, is observed on July 22. in day/month date format this day is written as 22/7 and resembles a common fractional approximation of ?. These are just several interesting facts from the world of mathematics. There are many other amazing facts hiding behind complicated formulas, fractions and equations. Do not allow them to frighten you and find your way to see fun even in such a complicated subject as math.

Ask a Nerd! The Resume Blues

Ask a Nerd! The Resume Blues Ask a Nerd! | Tips from an Orange County private tutor Question: Im a recent college graduate and have been looking for a job in my field for over a year. I have yet to receive an interview even though I only apply to jobs that are appropriate for my skill set and experience level. What am I doing wrong? Brief: There are many reasons why somebody would not get called back for an interview in this competitive job market. There are far more applicants than there are jobs and resumes can be easily lost when sent through online sources. Answer Assuming that an applicant is applying to jobs that are either internship or entry-level, the main issues seem to be applying through online sources. Long gone are the days when somebody could show their winning personality by applying in person or send unsolicited resumes and cover letters through snail mail. Today, applicants have to be hyperaware of their online presence and how to make it work (READ: The Top 5 Interview Pitfalls). 1. Be everywhere Young professionals have to be everywhere. Get on LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter etc… Students who have already graduated can start building their online presence now while theyre simultaneously applying for jobs in their field. The most important professional presence is LinkedIn, but every positive social media format is a good thing. Checklist: Follow companies in the desired field of study to receive updates and stay in touch Share pertinent and job-relevant information on various public social media sites Connect with experienced professionals in the field as much as possible Students who are currently juniors or seniors in college should build an online presence now. The longer the portfolio is active, the more students can add to it as time goes by. After a while, this can become exhausting so its recommended that jobseekers spend no more than an hour a day to preserve mental energy for work and study. 2. Be visual A basic one-page resume is no longer enough to make somebody stand out. Applicants are encouraged to stand out on more than one platform. Consider adding visual supplements to the resume that are more likely to stand out from the pack and have a better chance of resulting in an interview or call back. YouTube videos, PowerPoint presentations, or any specialized computer program for a specific field are great ways to create a visual addition to a resume that doesnt just tell a potential employer that someone can get the job done but also shows them. 3. Follow through Many new graduates will send out an email or respond through the companys website and never hear back. Although this is very frustrating, its important to remember that they can also hear back from you. Applicants are encouraged to follow through regarding their resume within a week of sending out their application. Its important that applicants make their best effort to find a direct email to somebody at the HR department so that there is a better chance of it being read (READ: Ask a Nerd! Grades and AP Class). Applicants should ask if the company would like any supplemental information or if it would be possible to have an interview. The worst the employer can say is “no”. Larger companies will often have things in place to make it difficult for potential applicants to get in touch. This is done on purpose and to prevent HR from having unsolicited calls and emails. Of course, applicants should be respectful of any specific instructions given on the company website; however, one or two follow-up emails should be acceptable. If a potential employer doesnt want to talk to you, they will certainly let you know. In short? Some will say that social media and online forums are making it easier to apply for jobs while others will say its much harder. The emerging generation is left with this method of job search whether they like it or not. A heavy social media presence and appropriate follow-through are great ways to start getting closer to an interview. Have a question for one of our nerds? Tweet it to us @TutorNerds. How to Learn Old English - How It Can Help You Speak English Better

How to Learn Old English - How It Can Help You Speak English BetterIf you are like me and can read and write, it can be quite a challenge to learn the English language. Of course, you don't have to be an English expert, as it's a relatively easy language to learn. There are many different ways you can learn English, and some of them will suit you better than others.Old English, which dates back as far as the eighth century, was not as well known as other Romance languages at the time. Many people were more interested in learning the French and Spanish languages, so the English language was not used much in Europe for centuries. This is why, as I said earlier, old English is not much spoken today. It's a great way to learn old English, since it doesn't take much time. The fact that there are so many different written forms means that you are bound to learn some of the more unusual words. Most people who are learning to speak English today will also have a lot of their knowledge about t he history of the language in their homes. These days, you can get hold of great DVDs and books that teach you many of the basic words you need to know. Many are already familiar with the written form of the language, so it won't be that difficult for them to pick up the basics. A lot of people enjoy seeing what their grandmother or parents used to speak in the past, so having someone to watch over you as you learn how to speak your mother tongue can be a great experience.Another way to learn English is through the Internet. There are plenty of free ebooks and courses on how to speak the language, and in fact, you can find an online course at just about any subject. You'll find a wide range of subjects that can offer you a practical way to learn the language, including science, business, sports, travel, arts and letters. As long as you can write and read, the internet can be a great way to learn the language, since there are so many opportunities to make yourself know the words in a w ay that suits you. Using your imagination, you can have fun playing along with one of the many online games available. Even better, with a laptop or even a simple PC, you can test yourself to see how well you can speak English. With all these tools available, it shouldn't be too hard to learn the English language. If you would prefer not to look into textbooks or to learn in your own home, then old English might be for you.

No Articles On The Web - Not Yet!

No Articles On The Web - Not Yet!I was really surprised to see that there were no articles on the International Journal of Mentoring and Tutoring on the web. However, I did find several websites that host articles on this topic. What is so surprising is that the subject is so commonly covered in journals worldwide. Why would there be so little information on the web about this topic? I believe that mentoring and tutoring are so important that it deserves a whole volume of its own website. There is a great demand for more information on this topic. Students from all over the world want to know how they can improve their grades, interact better with their teachers, be more proactive and effective in class, learn how to write coherent essays, avoid getting bad marks, become more conscientious and caring in school, etc. It's understandable that the editors of the International Journal of Mentoring and Tutoring would not want to have their content appear in a journal called 'International J ournal of Mentoring and Tutoring'. This is not a small issue. The editors want to limit the topics of their journal to meet their publishers' wishes, but if they are going to serve the needs of students, they must also serve the needs of teachers.Online journals do not have a problem with that. In fact, online journals are open to all types of topics. Mentoring and tutoring should be included in the topics that editors of online journals feel will serve the interests of their members. If a group of students or parents to submit a request to the editors of a journal for inclusion of a topic in the journal, the editors should be very willing to accommodate the request and consider it, provided that the topic has some significance to the students and teachers who are reading the journal. The online journals of these journals should allow submissions of subjects that are relevant to the interests of students and teachers. It is unfortunate that many online journals will not be willing to grant this request, because in their eyes, this would mean sacrificing the content of the journal. However, the students and teachers who are submitting a request for inclusion of a topic in their journal do not have to sacrifice the content of the journal. If you want to submit an article to an International Journal of Mentoring and Tutoring, then please feel free to do so. There are many useful tips and hints on the internet that could help you do so. I suggest that you also read the articles of other students and teachers who have written on the topic you are writing about. If you are concerned about the lack of information about this topic in online journals, please consider that there are so many students and teachers who are benefiting from this topic. I believe that the topics covered in online journals are the best and most effective ways to share information about this topic with people around the world.

Online Solving Systems of Linear Equations Tutors

Online Solving Systems of Linear Equations Tutors Linear equations are the equations in which the highest exponent of the variable is 1. Linear equations consist of variables and constants combined together and we can solve a linear equation to find the value of the variable. A system of linear equations consist of more than one linear equation with different variables and this system can be solved in order to find the value of the variables. System of linear equations can be solved graphically or algebraically using different methods to get the value of the variables. Example 1: Solve the system of linear equations, x + y = 5 and x y = 7. We can solve the given system of equations using the Elimination/Addition method. Add the given two equations andthen cancel the y term. This gives: 2x= 5+ 7 = 12. This gives: x = 12/2= 6 ==x = 6. Substitute x = 6 in any of the given two equations. For x+ y = 5== 6+ y = 5 ==y = 5 6==y= -1. Hence the solution: x = 6 and y = -1. Example 2: Solve the system of linear equations, x + y = 4 and x y = 2. We can solve the given system of equations using the Elimination/Addition method. Add the given two equations and then cancel the y term. This gives: 2x= 4+ 2 = 6. This gives: x= 6/2= 3 ==x = 3. Substitute x= 3 in any of the given two equations. For x+ y = 4== 3+ y = 4 ==y = 4 3==y = 1. Hence the solution: x = 3 and y = 1.
